Evaluating Short Fiction: Saint Louis/Hawaii
These are the questions that you should be considering about your own story. They are also the questions that your writing partners will be using to evaluate your story when you post it on the wiki.
Plot:
_ - Is my story original, yet believable?
_ - Is there a clear conflict?
_ - Are there complications that add enough suspense, tension, or interest? Does the reader maintain interest?
_ - Is the resolution satisfying? What could be added or changed?
_ - Does the story flow clearly and logically?
Characterization:
_ - Are my characters realistic?
_ - Did I show the physical / personality traits of the characters through many of these: description, dialogue, narrator’s opinion, discussion from other characters, the character’s own actions?
_ - Are my descriptions complete and detailed?
Setting:
_ - Does the setting fit the story?
_- Is the setting described well?
Language:
_ - Did I include unique, specific word choices?
_- Do any word choices need changing?
Theme:
This story reveals that (topic) is (message about the topic).” Can the reader accurately fill in the missing information?
